Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress, producer and director. She's been honored for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The actress began her career acting as a performer on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. Awed by acting since elementary school days, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Her mumps left her blind and deaf on one ear, but she did not allow this to stop her from becoming an actress. At the age of 16, she took classes in drama at college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh to pursue her ambitions. A chance meeting led her to got stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley and the two were a team in Broadway Crimes of the Heart that became Hunter's debut. After that, she was then moved from New York to Los Angeles and tried to land movie roles. In Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. In the three decades since then, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star along with the Women in Film Lucy Award.
